PACTcon 2026

Shifting Grounds

PACTcon 2026 in Whitehorse, YT

The seasonal breakup of ice and snow is a moment of creative release, and of potential risk. Periods of waiting, tension, and anticipation give way to flow and unpredictability, allowing ideas to move freely and relationships to change and form in the fertile ground of transition.

Times of transition, change, or the in-between can feel fragile, yet they are rich with potential. Just as ice breaks on a river, the spaces of instability allow movement, experimentation, and the emergence of new pathways.

PACTcon 2026 brings theatre leaders together for the first time in conference history in the Yukon for an exciting opportunity to convene for an invigorating renewal amongst colleagues. We will have the opportunity to engage with our local member company Pivot Theatre (formerly known as Nakai), and the lively artistic community. Our experiences will extend beyond the conference with the opportunity to engage with the Awaken Festival which brings local and international work up North with more opportunities to gather and connect through art.

Join us to rediscover a meaningful opportunity for rootedness and awareness. Being deeply connected to place while remaining attuned to wider contexts allows ideas, art, and collaboration to extend our perspectives and flourish in new and exciting ways.

PACTcon 2026 will take place in Whitehorse, YT, located on the territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council, and hosted by Pivot Theatre (formally known as Nakai) and the Yukon Arts Centre.

Join us for the conference Wednesday, April 22 to Saturday, April 25, 2026.

Your Invitation to PACTcon 2026 in Whitehorse

Pivot Theatre is excited to welcome PACT and PACT members to Whitehorse in April 2026. It’s a time of change in the territory as the river ice begins to flow and the lakes thin and open. The light is back, and the snow remains.
We live in a place and culture where the changes we're all facing show up in different – and in similar – ways.
Gathering in times of Shifting Grounds will always be an important part of building solidarity and thriving in relation to the realities we face – individually and as a community.
Whitehorse offers a unique landscape, and also a space and scale that encourages us to reflect on how professional theatre connects with place and the people who live there. And to imagine and re-imagine those relations with an expansive attention and particular care.
We look forward to inspiring and being inspired and sharing spring with you!
Jacob and Norah

What is PACTcon?

PACT's annual gathering is an opportunity to share vital experiences and build genuine connections with your theatre colleagues from across Canada. The conversations started at the event carry through the rest of the year and often spark creative partnerships, mentorships, and joint projects.

The annual gathering is open to theatre leaders and other staff at PACT Member Companies and PACT Colleagues, as well as anyone from beyond the membership who would like to attend. Theatre artists, managers, administrators, and board members are all encouraged to join us. The more voices in the room, the richer our conversations will be.
