Job Description
POSITION: Box Office Representative
DEPARTMENT: Patron Services
REPORTING TO: Director of Patron Services
DIRECT REPORTS: None
EMPLOYMENT: Part-time, seasonal
START DATE: September 30, 2025
SALARY RANGE: $20/hour

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Patron Services team are the first point of contact for our patrons and play a vital role in delivering a welcoming and smooth ticketing experience. The Box Office Representative is a front-facing position requires excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a passion for live performance and the patron experience.
HOURS OF WORK
3 to 15 hours of work per week, depending on activity levels and availability.
JOB DESCRIPTION
PERFORMANCE RELATED DUTIES
- Debrief with Manager of Patron Services and FOH Supervisor upon arrival
- Count and maintain float with accuracy
- With FOH Supervisor, run reports and review performance - attendance, access needs, unpaid tickets, volunteers, locked seats etc
- Troubleshoot ticketing issues
- Troubleshoot seating issues
- Check Comp Request Sheets for Rental/Partner Companies
- Check and enter HIP TIX sales
- Sell Rush tickets
- Mount patron services related signage
- Aid the FOH Supervisor with getting the show in as scheduled
- Aid the FOH Supervisor with late seating
- Check cash sales with FOH Supervisor
- Enter Guest Voucher Data
- With FOH Supervisor, review performance again - unused tickets, attendance, cash sales
GENERAL AND OTHER DUTIES
- Sell and process payments for: tickets, subscriptions, gift certificates, courses and process donations
- Send confirmations / invoice as needed
- Process payments for tickets, subscriptions, donations, rentals, courses, groups
- Aid and assist customers with special needs and ensuring they have appropriate seating
- Describe seat locations when necessary
- Describe and discuss programming, activities, and ancillary events when necessary
- Manage Database - add new patrons, editing/merging existing patron accounts
- Assist in the issuing of Charitable Tax Receipts
- Sell books and merchandise
- Processing student group orders and distributing tickets prior to the performance.
- Provide FOH Supervisor Box Office related information for the FOH Report, as applicable
- Attend first read
- Attend dress rehearsal
- Complete administrative tasks, as required
- Provide service to all customers, except in situations where refusal is justified under policy or law.
- Attend meetings as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous customer service, retail, or box office experience (experience in arts or ticketing is an asset)
- Comfortable using point-of-sale or ticketing systems (training provided). A familiarity with Spektrix is an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Enjoys interacting with people
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and resolve issues tactfully and with care
- Working knowledge of accessibility and inclusion principles is an asset
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work day, evening, and/or weekend shifts
- A passion for theatre and a commitment to creating a welcoming experience for all.
WAGE
$20 per hour + 4% benefits
