Company Overview

The Citadel Theatre, one of Canada’s largest and busiest professional, not-for-profit theatre companies and facilities, has an opening to join the Wigs team for their production of A Christmas Carol. The Wigs Running position is an IATSE position under the supervision of the Head of Wigs. This position would be working with a team of wig running members in the fast-paced backstage of A Christmas Carol at the Citadel Theatre. This position would involve many skills that include applying and care for wigs, application of make-up and performing quick changes during rehearsal and performances.

Job Description

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Dresses performers in Wigs or Hairpieces as necessary during rehearsals and performances.
  • Performs quick changes which could involve hair modification, re-styles and touch-ups.
  • Helps to clean and maintain wigs as required under the supervision of or instruction from Head of Wigs.
  • Applies and maintains the application of any specialty make-up at the direction of and under supervision from the Head of Wigs.
  • Maintains the wig running area and supplies used in an orderly manner.
  • Perform duties as assigned by Head or Assistant head of Wigs.
  • Manages time in an effective manner.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  •          Demonstrated wig and hair styling experience. 
  •          Experience with Make-up or prosthetic application.
  •          Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
  •          Ability to stand for long periods of time and to walk stairs.
  •          Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  •          Good organizational and time management skills.
  •          Need to be a Member or Permittee of IATSE or willing to join.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  •         Experience working in an IATSE environment.
  •         Prior theatrical backstage experience is an asset.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  •         Available to work evenings and weekends and longer days as required.
  •          This is a contract position with an end date of December 2025.

Hourly Rate: $26.17 per hour.
