Job Description
POSITION: Marketing & Communications Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Marketing and Communications
REPORTING TO: Director of Marketing and Communications (DoMC)
DIRECT REPORTS: None
EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time, Contract, 12-months
START DATE: August 25, 2025
SALARY RANGE: $50,000

POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing & Communications Coordinator plays a key role in shaping the public voice and presence of Tarragon. This position is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of marketing strategies, supervising all of Tarragon’s digital platforms, support the coordination of publicity efforts, and drive audience development. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with strong organizational skills and a deep appreciation for the performing arts, who is data driven and results oriented.

HOURS OF WORK
40 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday 9:30 – 5:30PM
Some evening and weekend hours will be required.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Marketing & Sales:
Support the DoMC in realizing Tarragon’s subscription and single ticket revenue goals:
- Assist with the planning and execution of multi-channel marketing campaigns for productions, events, and initiatives
- Assist with the coordination of all graphic design needs
- Create materials on Canva
- Maintain marketing calendars and campaign timelines
- Contribute marketing/sales related information to sales tracking documents
- Assist with data management of CRM system to optimize targeted marketing and promotional opportunities
- Support in-person events such as Play Reading Week, end of season celebrations, and subscriber stewardship events
Digital Communications:
- In collaboration with the DoMC, support the management of website content and ensure timely updates
- Curate, create, schedule, and oversee all social media posts and activity across all platforms for all of Tarragon’s activities, including but not limited to photos and short-form videos (reels, etc.)
- Respond and maintain engagement across all digital platforms, as necessary and as needed to drive followers, visibility, and interactions
- Create and adapt copy for all social media activity and digital marketing
- Develop e-newsletters and special announcement emails in collaboration with the DoMC
Media & Public Relations:
- Coordinate artist/creative team bios and artist media survey
- Track and compile press coverage, maintain an accurate and up-to-date press library
Audience Development & Engagement:
- Assist with outreach and communication strategy for Tarragon activities to schools, community groups, partner organizations, and new audiences
- Support access and inclusion initiatives (e.g. ASL interpretation, relaxed performances)
Internal Communications & Support:
- Collaborate with other departments to gather content and align messaging and branding
- Support development/fundraising communications, including donor stewardship materials
- Attend company events and represent the theatre in the community as needed
- Attend staff meetings as needed
- For artistic activity produced by Tarragon - attend rehearsals and runs throughout the process including but not limited to first read, dress run, opening night, as well as any part of the creative process for the capturing and creation of digital content
- Provides general and administrative support to the Director of Marketing & Communications
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1–3 years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations (experience in the arts/culture sector preferred)
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Proficiency with social media management and scheduling tools, including but not limited to Meta Business Suite
- Familiarity with design tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and email platforms
- Experience with CMS platforms (e.g. WordPress) and basic HTML an asset
- Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Personal interest for theatre, community, and inclusive storytelling
- Meticulous project and budget management skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills, tact, diplomacy, the ability to clearly and effectively deliver messaging
- A strong team-player approach with willingness to be flexible and pitch-in where needed
COMPENSATION PACKAGE
Annual salary $50K, commensurate with experience.
Paid vacation after 3-month probationary period.
