About the Gros Morne Theatre Festival
The Gros Morne Theatre Festival is a repertory theatre festival located in Cow Head Newfoundland & Labrador, featuring 6 productions running from June to September. The festival operates out of the Nurse Myra Bennett Centre, a new state of the art performing arts facility that opened in 2021. Our facility features two performance spaces, a 178 seat mainstage and a 70 seat studio space. Additionally, our facility features dedicated production workspaces for scenic carpentry, props, and wardrobe.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to live, work, and play in Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site and one of Canada’s most beautiful landscapes.
We provide shared staff accommodations in Cow Head and cover a round trip of travel via the most economical means from the employee’s point of origin to Cow Head NL.

Pay Rate: $780/week
Job Details
Reporting to the Technical Director, the Technician will be part of a 6-person production team that is responsible for executing all design elements within the Gros Morne Theatre Festival. Responsibilities are tailored to individual crew members to match their relevant experience and interests. We are especially interested in applicants with sound experience to help round out our team.
A list of duties and responsibilities include:
Working with sound, video, and lighting designers, to implement designs including the hang, focus, programming and board operation of shows
Preparing and updating production paperwork (design paperwork, show paperwork, borrows/returns, storage, inventories)
Board Operator for GMTF productions when required (to be determined by the Technical Director)
Assist with change overs for all GMTF productions and events
Supervising the Production Assistant(s) during tech week and load-ins
Assist with the move of theatre equipment when required
setup, care and maintenance, and strike/storage, of GMTF work/storage areas, and equipment/stock/borrows/supplies/materials
conduct maintenance on technical equipment
Strike of technical equipment/materials/supplies at the end of the season
attend daily technical staff meetings
attend weekly production meetings
attend company meetings
Work Experience and Qualifications
We are searching for candidates with the following skills, abilities, and qualifications:
Minimum 1 – 2 years of experience working in theatre production
Experience with Qlab; programming audio and video playback
Experience with digital mixing consoles and wireless lavalier microphones
Punctuality, good work ethic, strong interpersonal skills, willingness to learn new skills, willingness to work as a member of a team
Ability to lift up to 50lbs
Experience with an ETC Element 2 or other ETC EOS consoles is considered an asset
sound design experience is considered an asset
A valid driver's license is considered an asset
NL Fall arrest and ariel lift certification is considered an asset
