Job Description
Duties
Globe Theatre is seeking a Head of Wardrobe to oversee the production and procurement of costumes. The successful candidate is skilled, knowledgeable, flexible, eager to learn, and a collaborative team player.
In addition to possessing superior interpersonal, communication, project coordination, and exceptional problem-solving skills, the Head of Wardrobe is expected to:
• Coordinate the purchasing, borrowing, construction, & maintenance of costumes for all Globe Theatre productions.
• Schedule and oversee casual labour as required, including wardrobe maintenance staff, dressers, stitchers, cutters, etc.
• Work with designers to realize their designs in conjunction with the Production Manager and Technical Director.
• Maintain a high quality of workmanship, achieving the attention to detail that each costume requires.
• Track & adhere to all budget guidelines as determined by the Production Manager and Technical Director.
• Order supplies, materials, and equipment required for construction and maintenance of costumes.
• Work with Stage Management teams to manage fittings, schedules, & paperwork
• Adhere to all schedules and deadlines as determined by the Technical Director.
• Generate detailed costing documents detailing the expected costs, labour, and time needed for each show.
• Schedule & oversee maintenance work for equipment related to the department.
• Update and maintain safety and construction best practices for the Wardrobe Department.
• Attend production meetings, staff meetings, technical rehearsals, and note sessions as scheduled.
• Assist the Technical Director and Production Manager with the planning and organization of all wardrobe elements leading up to tours and co-productions.
• Adhere to Globe Theatre’s Personnel Policies.
• Adhere to all aspects of the Collective Agreement between Globe Theatre and I.A.T.S.E. Local 295.
• Be a member in good standing with IATSE Local 295, or be willing to transfer or join and maintain membership with IATSE 295 in good standing.
• Liaise with other clients & artists as needed.
• Act as a resource to other arts community members.
• On occasion, train production interns, casual staff and volunteers.
• Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications & Skills• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
• Outstanding collaborator and possess strong team leadership skills.
• Positive attitude and problem-solving focus.
• Able to work independently and as a team leader.
• Outstanding time management and task prioritization skills.
• Always maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while being punctual and reliable.
• Previous experience an asset: Microsoft Office Suite.
• Certifications an asset: First aid.
Special Consideration will be given to:
• Individuals who possess excellent project management skills.
• Individuals who possess excellent cutting & pattern making skill, as well as sewing skills.
Compensation & BenefitsWage: $31.02 per hour as per IATSE 295 Collective Bargaining Agreement with a minimum of 35 hours per week for the dates listed below. (Subject to ratification by Local 295 of the renewed collective agreement.) Globe offers a competitive benefits package, including health/dental, RRSPs, and PTO. Evening or weekend work may be required.
The Head of Scenic Carpentry is a seasonal full-time position, averaging 9-11 months per year. For our 2026-27 season, the dates of employment are:
August 10, 2026 – February 27, 2027
March 14, 2027 – June 5, 2027, 2027
June 27, 2027 – July 3, 2027
A later start date could be considered for the right candidate.
