New Series Launch: Connected Currents

December 2, 2024

PACT is pleased to announce a new program called Connected Currents, a virtual gathering space reserved for early and mid-career IBPOC theatre administrators and managers. Connected Currents will feature both connection activities and a series of IBPOC guest speakers who will offer their perspectives on the theatre sector’s past, present, and exciting future.

Between January and May 2025, PACT will host four Connected Currents events. The gatherings will offer emerging and mid-career IBPOC arts administrators food for thought on current hot topics in the theatre sector, as well as opportunities to foster national connections. Each virtual event will feature a presentation or panel on special topics such as:

The first Connected Currents will take place Monday, January 13, 2025, from 3pm - 5pm ET. Part one of the gathering will feature guest speaker Kevin Ormsby, who will speak about the history of non-profit arts institutions in Canada, followed by a Q & A. In part two, a pen pal program for administrators who are interested in connecting and collaborating across geographic distance will be introduced.

The program is led by a steering committee consisting of Naz Afsahi (Nightwood Theatre), Breanne Harmon (Persephone Theatre), Himanshu Sitlani (Native Earth Performing Arts), Boomer Stacey (Boca Del Lupo), Isaac Thomas (Belfry Theatre), and Melissa Tsang, and builds upon the previous year’s Open Doors program.
