The Role of Impact Producers in Theatre

  • DATE: June 29 @ 1:00 pm - June 20 @ 2:30 pm EDT
  • VENUE: PACT Zoom

Impact Producer has been a role in the documentary filmmaking world for a long time. It is a role that combines community outreach, audience engagement, and marketing. This coordinated plan ensures the film reaches its intended audience, as well as encouraging real collective change in the community by partnering with specific organizations.

There are many artists and administrators in theatre who have been doing work very similar to impact producing throughout their careers. Over the last three years, this work has become more necessary, and has begun to take on the title from the documentary world.

What does the role of an impact producer look like in theatre? Why is this role necessary? And how does it affect the way we engage with our audiences, and give back to the communities we are trying to reach?

We are excited to be hosting Amelia Acosta Powell, the Impact Producer at the Actors Theatre of Louisville, as well as the Executive Artistic Director Robert Barry Fleming, to tackle these questions and many more. The event will be moderated by Chelsea Carlson, Managing Producer at Savage Society.
