Company Overview
Theatre by the Bay is hiring a Production Coordinator (Theatre Technician) to join our summer team and support the 2025 Barrie Theatre Festival and Producer’s Mentorship Program. This is a great opportunity for emerging theatre technicians or students in technical theatre to build practical, hands-on experience in a fast-paced, professional environment.
Reporting to the Producer, the Production Coordinator will be actively involved in all areas of technical support, including stage management, set preparation, load-ins, changeovers, and more.
Office Location: Theatre by the Bay, 24 Maple Ave, 2nd Floor, Barrie, ON L4M 7W4
Job Description
Contract Duration: June 22 – August 17, 2025 (8 weeks)
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with scenic builds, props, painting, and backstage organization
• Support load-ins, strikes, and show changeovers
• Provide backstage and stage management assistance during rehearsals and performances
• Maintain and organize production supplies and inventory
• Collaborate with artists, staff, and crew to ensure smooth technical operations
Qualifications:
• Enrolled in or recently graduated from a theatre production program OR equivalent technical experience
• Ability to lift, move, and work with theatre gear and materials
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
• Comfortable working in a team and independently
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, email, and basic project tools
Eligibility:
• Candidates must be between 15 and 30 years old (as required by Canada Summer Jobs grants)
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada with valid
