The National Centre for New Musicals (NCNM) supports early-stage development of new musicals with seed funding available for composers, bookwriters, and lyricists to test ideas. The program supports projects at various stages in the continuum of development – from early-stage concepts to previously workshopped or showcased work. Guided by a distinguished Advisory Committee comprised of celebrated theatre practitioners, NCNM cultivates and strengthens new and diverse voices by ensuring that artists and creators are provided with mentorship and consultation to maximize their potential for success in the genre.

 

Job Description

THE POSITION:

This is a management-level position reporting to the Artistic Director. The Producer supports season planning through overseeing auditions, CTA contract negotiations, and managing communication channels between the company and CAEA artists. The Producer also oversees the National Centre for New Musicals (NCNM) program, coordinating the project selection process, workshop scheduling and contracting.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

•        Lead contact and liaison for CTA artists

•        Manage CAEA contracts and riders

•        Oversee CTA compliance and liaise with Canadian Actors Equity

•        Organize auditions (show specific and general)

•        On-call during tech weekends for production needs

•        Manage artists needs including travel, accommodation, and hospitality

•        Manage the National Centre for New Musicals (NCNM) project selection process

•        Manage workshops, artist hiring and contracts related to NCNM

•        Manage scheduling for NCNM

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Experience working in unionize environment and with collective agreements.
  • Familiar with local, national, and international theatre community, and able to foster and maintain relationships.
  • Experience with Share Point and Microsoft Suite.
  • High level of organization and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of musical theatre and new musical development an asset
  • Strong communication skills
