Port Stanley Festival Theatre is situated in the beautiful harbour town of Port Stanley just 30 minutes south of London, ON. Port Stanley is a vibrant community and attracts a loyal audience looking for the very best in theatre experiences. From our busy Summer Season, expanded programming in our off-season, holiday shows, theatre camps, and many events held in its venue, PSFT has established itself as a cultural hub in Elgin County.

THE THEATRE

PSFT is a registered not-for-profit charity that owns and operates a theatre facility located right on the harbour. PSFT regularly produces a 6 show Summer Season from mid/late May till mid- September, 5-7 self -produced shows in the off season, March break and summer theatre camps, and rentals from October-April.

The building includes: 

The Grace Auditorium {202 seats} used for our programming and rentals. 

Rehearsal Hall

Fully Equipped shop, offices, dressing rooms, Palmer Room {lounge}, bar and patio.

PSFT also houses 3 tenants: Elgin Library{Port Stanley branch}, Lake House Books, and Unicorn Tattoos.

 

Job Description

THE CANDIDATE

The Operations Manager will be responsible for the Operations management, overall financial and administrative management of PSFT and are responsible for:

  • Providing regular financial updates
  • Preparing annual operations budgets
  • Providing monthly board reports to the Artistic Director
  • Overseeing the annual Audit, maintaining a healthy cash flow, and ensuring strong financial accountability
  • Leading donor stewardship opportunities and Federal, Provincial, and Muncipal Grant writing
  • Engaging public interest to ensure continued support and growth of PSFT
  • Arranging housing and billets for all seasonal staff
  • Additional duties as required

The Operations Manager is accountable to the Artistic Director and will help manage long-term strategic goals of the organization, in a manner that moves the theatre's mission forward and ensures the company remains a resilient and sustainable organization.

KEY COMPETENCIES INCLUDE:

  • FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: holds financial responsibility for all aspects of the theatre and the building.
  • PLANNING, ORGANIZING, MANAGING TIME and PRIORITIES: the ability to identify top priorities, anticipate outcome and risks, and establish appropriate courses of action.
  • TEAMWORK and RESPONSIBILITY: the ability to treat others fairly while facilitating and supporting the professional growth of others and achieving business results through teamwork.
  • PERSONAL ACCOUNTIBILITY: Being accountable for professional and personal actions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree in Arts Administration, Business Admin., or appropriate equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years' arts management experience in the not-for-profit sector
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Facility Manager, Theatre Manager or Operations Manager in a performing arts facility
  • Passionate about the performing arts
  • Strong knowledge about the not-for-profit proffesional arts sector
  • Well-developed ability to complete detailed tasks with high accuracy
  • A financial Manager with experience in budgeting, reporting, and over seeing an annual audit
  • Ability to utilize administrative softwear to produce accurate, concise reports both technical{financial, sales, etc} and business{writtten analysis and recommendations}
  • Ability to utilize theatre-specific software to ensure ticket sales processes and reports are completed promptly and accurately
  • Valid driver's license and Smart Serve training an asset
